1. Short arc quad

Medical · Rehabilitation Abbreviations

Quadriceps exercise performed lying down with a bolster under the knee: the patient straightens the knee over the last 30 degrees or so of motion. It targets terminal knee extension.

Example: SAQ over 6-inch towel roll, 2 x 15, hold 3 seconds.

Common early after knee replacement when patients cannot yet lift the leg straight. It works the vastus medialis, which is important for knee stability. Often paired with quad sets and heel slides in early protocols.

2. Short-answer question

Education & Academia · Standardized Test Abbreviations

AP history question type that asks for three brief, specific responses about a source or historical development, each worth one point. AP US, European and World History exams include three SAQs in a 40-minute section.

Example: Answer each part of the SAQ in two or three sentences; full essays waste time.

Students answer the first two SAQs and choose one of the last two. Teachers stress direct claims supported by specific evidence. In payment security, SAQ means the PCI DSS self-assessment questionnaire, an unrelated meaning.
