Assistance level in which a helper stays close enough to help if needed but does not touch the patient. It indicates the patient can perform the task but has some safety risk.
Example: Sit to stand from recliner with SBA, cues for hand placement.
Sometimes called supervision, though some systems separate distant supervision from stand-by. Common for patients with mild balance problems or cognitive deficits. Insurance documentation often uses SBA to show progress from contact guard toward independence.

Supports small businesses through loan guarantees such as 7(a) and 504 loans, disaster loans, counseling and federal contracting set-asides. The independent agency is led by an Administrator who holds cabinet-level rank.

Created by the Small Business Act of 1953. It usually does not lend directly; instead it guarantees part of loans made by banks, except for disaster loans, which are also available to homeowners and renters. The SBA ran the Paycheck Protection Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
