1. TrueType Font
Technology & Computing · File Format Abbreviations
Outline font format developed by Apple in the late 1980s and licensed to Microsoft, describing letter shapes with quadratic curves and detailed "hinting" for sharp on-screen rendering. It is supported by every major operating system.
Example: Install the TTF by double-clicking it and choosing Install.
Apple introduced TrueType with System 7 in 1991 to avoid licensing Adobe's PostScript fonts, and Microsoft adopted it in Windows 3.1 in 1992. Microsoft's "Core fonts for the Web" project of 1996 distributed Arial, Verdana, Georgia and other TrueType fonts widely. OpenType later extended the format, and many .ttf files today are technically OpenType fonts.
2. Time to fill
Business & Finance · Human Resources Abbreviations
Recruiting metric counting the days from when a job requisition is approved or opened until a candidate accepts the offer, used to plan hiring capacity and spot bottlenecks.
Example: Our average TTF for nursing roles has climbed to 52 days.
Time to hire (TTH) is a related metric measuring the days from a candidate's first contact or application to acceptance, showing the candidate's experience rather than the whole vacancy.
