EEAS stands for European External Action Service, a world government abbreviation.
Diplomatic service of the European Union, which supports the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and runs EU delegations around the world.
Example: The EEAS issued a statement condemning the attack on behalf of the EU.
Usage notes
It was created by the Lisbon Treaty and began work in 2011, bringing together staff from the Commission, the Council secretariat and national diplomatic services. The High Representative is also a Vice-President of the Commission. EU delegations function much like embassies.
