Del. Ch. stands for Delaware Court of Chancery, a court abbreviation.

Equity court in Delaware that hears corporate governance disputes, merger litigation, stockholder suits and fiduciary-duty claims without juries. Because a majority of Fortune 500 companies are incorporated in Delaware, its decisions shape American corporate law.

Example: The stockholders sued in Del. Ch. to enjoin the merger vote pending fuller disclosure.

Usage notes

Its judges are the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors, cited as "C." and "V.C." ("Laster, V.C."). The court dates to 1792, and appeals go directly to the Delaware Supreme Court. It is one of a few separate equity courts left in the US, alongside the chancery courts of Mississippi and Tennessee.
