Usage notes
Founded in 2004 by people from Apple, Mozilla and Opera who disagreed with the W3C's focus on XHTML 2.0; their work became HTML5. A 2019 memorandum made the WHATWG versions of HTML and DOM the authoritative ones. Pronounced "what-wig" or spelled out.
