2. Swear to God

Shorter version of ISTG used to insist something is true or to express frustration, as in "stg I locked the door." Popular with teens and on social media.
Example: Stg I put my keys right here five minutes ago.
Interchangeable with ISTG, though some users treat STG as slightly more casual. Gamers sometimes use it for emphasis after a frustrating loss. The religious oath may bother some readers.
3. Sonar Technician (Surface)
Military · US Navy and Coast Guard Rating Abbreviations
Surface-ship sonar operators and maintainers who search for, track and classify submarines and underwater objects with hull-mounted and towed-array sonar, supporting the ship's anti-submarine warfare mission.
Example: STG2 Avery called out the submarine's bearing drift to the tactical action officer.
"Sonar" itself began as an acronym for sound navigation and ranging. Submarine sonar operators use the separate rating STS. Sonar watches can last hours with long periods of silence broken by fleeting contacts.
