LLB stands for Legum Baccalaureus (Bachelor of Laws), a degree abbreviation.
First law degree in the UK, Ireland, India, Australia, Singapore and most Commonwealth countries, usually three or four years of undergraduate study. The United States replaced it with the JD during the 1960s, so only older American lawyers hold one.
Example: After her LLB at King's College London, she prepared for the SQE to qualify as a solicitor.
Usage notes
Written LL.B. in traditional style. The doubled L marks the Latin plural "legum" (of laws), originally referring to civil and canon law; the same convention gives LLM and LLD. Most Canadian law schools renamed their LLB the JD in the 2000s.
