ELB stands for Elastic Load Balancing, a cloud computing abbreviation.
Spreads incoming traffic across EC2 instances, containers and IP addresses as a managed AWS service, with Application, Network and Gateway Load Balancer types.
Example: Register the new instances with the ELB target group and wait for health checks to pass.
Usage notes
Launched in 2009; the original version is now called the Classic Load Balancer. Application Load Balancers route HTTP traffic by path and host name, while Network Load Balancers handle TCP and UDP at very high throughput. Health checks stop sending traffic to failing targets automatically.
