CaaS stands for Containers as a service, a cloud computing abbreviation.
A cloud model in which the provider runs and manages container infrastructure, so customers deploy containerized applications without operating the underlying servers or orchestration layer. AWS Fargate and Google Cloud Run are examples.
Example: Moving to a CaaS platform meant we no longer patch the Kubernetes nodes ourselves.
Usage notes
The category sits between IaaS and PaaS: customers package their own containers but leave scheduling and scaling to the provider. Managed Kubernetes services are sometimes grouped under the label. Because containers are portable, it reduces lock-in compared with many PaaS offerings.
