CDK stands for Cloud Development Kit, a cloud computing abbreviation.
An AWS framework for defining cloud infrastructure in general-purpose programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, Java and C#, which it converts into CloudFormation templates for deployment.
Example: The CDK stack creates the VPC, database and Lambda functions from one TypeScript file.
Usage notes
Released by AWS in 2019. Reusable "constructs" package common patterns into higher-level building blocks. Compared with YAML templates, code allows loops, functions and type checking, at the cost of a build step. A related project applied the same idea to Terraform.
