Tbps stands for Terabits per second, a data unit abbreviation.
Trillions of bits per second, the scale of submarine cables, internet backbones, data-center fabrics and the largest denial-of-service attacks. Laboratory experiments have pushed single optical fibers past a petabit per second.
Example: The provider absorbed a DDoS attack peaking above 5 Tbps without downtime.
Usage notes
Internet exchange points such as DE-CIX Frankfurt and AMS-IX report peak traffic in Tbps. Also written Tb/s or Tbit/s. Do not confuse it with TB/s (terabytes per second), used for GPU memory bandwidth, which is eight times larger.
