Literary magazines once required an SASE with every manuscript submission, a practice largely replaced by online submission systems. A "business-size" SASE usually means a No. 10 envelope. "An SASE" reflects the letter-by-letter pronunciation, though some say "a SASE" as a word. The British equivalent is SAE.

Defined by Gartner analysts in 2019. Vendors include Zscaler, Netskope, Palo Alto Networks and Cloudflare. The security-only portion is called SSE, security service edge. Pronounced "sassy".
