CategoriesMedical

R-CHOP stands for Rituximab, cyclophosphamide, hydroxydaunorubicin (doxorubicin), Oncovin (vincristine), prednisone, a hematology and oncology abbreviation.

Standard chemoimmunotherapy for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and other aggressive B-cell lymphomas, usually given every 21 days for six cycles. Prednisone is taken by mouth for five days, while the other drugs are given intravenously.

Example: C3D1 R-CHOP today; neutrophils recovered, pegfilgrastim on day 2.

Usage notes

Adding the anti-CD20 antibody rituximab to CHOP improved survival in a French trial published in 2002, making R-CHOP the standard for two decades; it cures about 60 percent of DLBCL patients. Side effects include low blood counts, nerve damage from vincristine and heart toxicity from doxorubicin. Pola-R-CHP, which substitutes polatuzumab vedotin for vincristine, is used for higher-risk disease.
