DLBCL stands for Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a hematology and oncology abbreviation.
Most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, accounting for about 30 percent of cases, an aggressive B-cell cancer that grows quickly in lymph nodes or other organs. It typically affects older adults and is curable in a majority of patients.
Example: DLBCL, stage IV, IPI 3; pola-R-CHP x6 planned with CNS prophylaxis assessment.
Usage notes
Standard first-line treatment, R-CHOP or the newer pola-R-CHP for higher-risk disease, cures roughly 60 percent of patients. CAR-T cell therapy became a second-line option after trials published in 2022 showed benefit over transplant-based approaches in early relapse. Subtypes are classified by cell of origin and genetic features, such as "double-hit" lymphoma with MYC and BCL2 rearrangements.
