1. Doctor of Occupational Therapy

Education & Academia · Degree Abbreviations · also used in medicine

Doctoral degree in occupational therapy, offered either as an entry-level program of about three years leading to NBCOT certification or as a post-professional degree for practicing therapists. Entry-level OTD programs add a 14-week doctoral capstone experience to the fieldwork required of master's programs.

Example: She chose an entry-level OTD so she could complete a capstone on pediatric feeding therapy.

Written O.T.D.; some schools award a DrOT. Both the OTD and the entry-level master's (MOT or MSOT) qualify graduates for the same license and job titles. The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) sets separate standards for each level.

2. On-time delivery

Business & Finance · Logistics, Supply Chain & Trade Abbreviations

Percentage of orders or shipments delivered by the promised or requested date, used to measure supplier, carrier and manufacturing performance.

Example: The carrier's OTD fell below 90% during the winter storms.

OTD is less strict than OTIF because it ignores quantity accuracy. Companies must decide whether to measure against the customer's requested date or the date promised.

3. On this day

Texting & Internet Slang · Social Media Abbreviations

Labels a post marking an anniversary or historical event, as in "OTD in 1969, Apollo 11 landed on the Moon." Used by history accounts, museums, sports teams and individuals.

Example: OTD in 2016, we got married on a rainy beach in Maine.

Facebook's "On This Day" memories feature, introduced in 2015, made the phrase familiar. Historians and archives use the hashtag #OTD to share daily history. Acceptable in professional and educational posts.

4. Out-the-door price

Transportation & Travel · Automotive Abbreviations

Total amount a buyer will pay for a vehicle, including the sale price, taxes, title and registration fees, documentation fees and any add-ons. Asking for an OTD quote prevents surprise charges at signing.

Example: Get every dealer's OTD price in writing before you visit; the advertised price leaves out $2,000 in fees.

Car-buying advice commonly recommends negotiating on the out-the-door figure rather than the monthly payment. Documentation fees vary widely by state, and some states cap them. The OTD price is what goes on the loan or the check.
