NLRA stands for National Labor Relations Act, a US law abbreviation.
Law of 1935 that guarantees most private-sector employees the right to organize, join unions, bargain collectively and strike, and prohibits unfair labor practices by employers. It is enforced by the National Labor Relations Board.
Example: Discussing pay with coworkers is protected activity under Section 7 of the NLRA.
Usage notes
Also called the Wagner Act after Senator Robert F. Wagner of New York, it was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt in July 1935. It does not cover government employees, agricultural workers, domestic workers, independent contractors or supervisors. The Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 amended it significantly, adding unfair practices by unions.
