NVRA stands for National Voter Registration Act, a US law abbreviation.
Law of 1993 that requires states to offer voter registration when people apply for or renew a driver's license and at public assistance offices, to accept a national mail-in registration form and to follow uniform rules when removing voters from the rolls.
Example: The lawsuit claims the state's purge of inactive voters violated the NVRA.
Usage notes
It is widely known as the "Motor Voter" law because of its DMV registration requirement. It bars systematic removal of voters within 90 days of a federal election and requires notice and waiting periods before removing voters who may have moved. Six states with Election Day registration or no registration are exempt.
