1. Median
Units & Measurements · Statistics Abbreviations
APA-style abbreviation for the median, the middle value of ordered data, used in tables and results sections of psychology and social science papers. The median is preferred over the mean for skewed data.
Example: Response times were skewed (Mdn = 412 ms, IQR = 155).
The APA Publication Manual lists Mdn alongside M for mean and SD for standard deviation, all set in italics. Medical journals more often write "median" in full. Half the observations lie at or below the median and half at or above it.
2. MDN Web Docs (formerly Mozilla Developer Network) (MDN)
Technology & Computing · Internet & Web Abbreviations
The most widely used free reference for web developers, documenting HTML, CSS, JavaScript and browser APIs, with compatibility tables showing which browsers support each feature.
Example: According to MDN, that CSS property still needs a prefix in older Safari versions.
Mozilla started it in 2005 as the Mozilla Developer Center; it later became the Mozilla Developer Network and was renamed MDN Web Docs in 2017. That year Microsoft, Google, Samsung and the W3C began contributing and pointing their own documentation to it. The content is open source on GitHub, and its browser compatibility data feeds many other tools.
