1. Master Boot Record

First sector of a disk partitioned in the legacy PC style, holding boot-loader code and a table of up to four primary partitions. It limits disks to 2 TiB and has largely given way to GPT.
Example: Windows won't install to this disk because it uses MBR and the PC boots in UEFI mode.
MBR partitioning dates to PC DOS 2.0 in 1983. Extended partitions work around the four-partition limit by nesting logical drives. Because the MBR is a single 512-byte sector, boot-sector viruses targeted it in the DOS era. Windows includes the mbr2gpt tool to convert a system disk to GPT without losing data.
2. Master bedroom

Identifies the largest bedroom in a home, usually with its own bathroom and closet, in real estate listings and floor plans. Many listings now call it the primary bedroom.
Example: MBR suite features a walk-in closet, double vanity and a soaking tub.
Since about 2020 many real estate organizations and builders have switched to "primary bedroom" or "primary suite," and the Houston Association of Realtors was among the first to change its listing fields. A bedroom with its own bathroom is described as "en suite," a term especially common in British listings. Floor plans may number the others BR2, BR3 and so on.
