GMLRS stands for Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System, a weapon and military equipment abbreviation.
GPS-guided rocket fired by HIMARS and MLRS launchers, with a range of about 70 kilometers and accuracy of a few meters, used against command posts, depots and air defenses.
Example: Each launcher pod holds six GMLRS rockets ready to fire.
Usage notes
Pronounced "GIM-lers." Unitary warhead versions replaced earlier cluster versions. An extended-range variant aims to roughly double the range. GMLRS strikes became a signature of Ukraine's 2022 counteroffensives. Its range and precision let artillery hit targets that previously required aircraft.
