Usage notes
Pronounced "HUM-vee." Unarmored Humvees proved vulnerable to IEDs in Iraq, prompting add-on armor and eventually MRAPs. The civilian Hummer was derived from it. The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle is replacing many Humvees.
