FROM stands for Full range of motion, a rehabilitation abbreviation.
Exam finding that a joint moves through its complete expected range. It is commonly charted for each extremity or joint in orthopedic, sports medicine and therapy notes.
Example: Wrist FROM, nontender, grip strength 5/5; cleared to return to sports.
Usage notes
"FROM" says nothing about pain or strength during movement, so it is often paired with notes on quality of motion. Some clinicians write "full AROM" to specify active motion. Measured degrees are preferred when tracking change.
