EXPO stands for Extended Profiles for Overclocking, a computer hardware abbreviation.
AMD's royalty-free standard for one-click memory overclocking profiles on DDR5, introduced with Ryzen 7000 processors and the AM5 platform in 2022. It serves the same purpose as Intel's XMP.
Example: Buy an EXPO kit for the Ryzen 9000 build so the BIOS sets the right timings automatically.
Usage notes
AMD publishes EXPO as an open specification, so memory makers need not pay licensing fees. Kits often carry both EXPO and XMP profiles. AMD's chips typically run best with DDR5-6000, where the memory and the internal Infinity Fabric clocks stay in a favorable ratio. Enabling EXPO in early AM5 firmware was linked to some chips overheating, which later BIOS updates addressed.
