1. Eastbound

Shorthand for eastbound traffic on roads, trains and buses, as in I-80 EB or the EB platform.
Example: EB I-90 is closed at the pass because of heavy snow.
Even-numbered interstates such as I-10, I-40 and I-80 run mainly east–west. EB also abbreviates exabyte in computing.
2. Exabyte

One quintillion bytes (10^18), a million terabytes, the scale of global internet traffic and hyperscale cloud storage. Global IP traffic is measured in hundreds of exabytes per month.
Example: Mobile networks worldwide carry well over 100 EB of data each month.
The binary equivalent, the exbibyte (EiB, 2^60 bytes), is about 15 percent larger. CERN's data storage passed one exabyte in 2023. A full 64-bit address space spans 16 EiB, the theoretical memory limit of 64-bit processors.
3. Emergent bilingual

Term for students learning English while continuing to use their home language, popularized by scholar Ofelia García and adopted in Texas law in 2021 in place of "limited English proficient". It stresses that these students are developing bilingualism.
Example: The campus serves 400 EB students in bilingual and ESL programs.
Texas's Senate Bill 2066 (2021) required the change in state statute and agency materials. Some researchers distinguish emergent bilinguals from students who are already bilingual. The term is common in dual-language program literature.
