Single-district federal court in Wilmington with one of the heaviest patent dockets in the country, especially pharmaceutical disputes between brand-name and generic drug makers. So many companies are incorporated in Delaware that they can be sued there, and its affiliated bankruptcy court hosts many of the largest Chapter 11 cases.

Usage notes
After the Supreme Court's TC Heartland decision in 2017 limited patent venue to a defendant's state of incorporation or a place where it has a regular business, filings in Delaware surged. Bluebook form: "(D. Del. 2022)". Ordinary appeals go to the Third Circuit, while patent appeals go to the Federal Circuit.
