ccTLD stands for Country code top-level domain, an Internet & web abbreviation.
A two-letter top-level domain assigned to a country or territory, based mostly on ISO 3166 codes, such as .uk, .de, .jp and .ca. Each is run by a national registry that sets its own eligibility rules.
Example: The shop registered its .de ccTLD to look local to German customers.
Usage notes
Some ccTLDs are marketed worldwide because of their letters: .tv (Tuvalu), .io (British Indian Ocean Territory), .ai (Anguilla) and .me (Montenegro). Domain fees are an important source of government revenue for small territories such as Tuvalu and Anguilla. The United Kingdom uses .uk rather than its ISO code GB. Country codes in non-Latin scripts also exist.
