S.J.Res. stands for Senate Joint Resolution, a political abbreviation.
Prefix for joint resolutions that originate in the Senate. Like their House counterparts, they need passage by both chambers and the President's signature to take effect, and are used for purposes such as disapproving regulations or directing the removal of armed forces.
Example: Senators forced a vote on an S.J.Res. disapproving the agency's rule under the Congressional Review Act.
Usage notes
Disapproval resolutions under the Congressional Review Act get fast-track procedures in the Senate and cannot be filibustered, which makes them popular early in a new administration. Measures under the War Powers Resolution are also often introduced as S.J.Res. They are numbered separately from S. bills.
