ROG stands for Interrogatory, a litigation abbreviation.
Written question that one party serves on another, which must be answered in writing and under oath. Interrogatories are used to identify witnesses, documents, damages calculations and the factual basis of claims and defenses.
Example: Plaintiff's answer to ROG No. 7 lists every doctor she has seen since the accident.
Usage notes
Pronounced "rog"; the plural is ROGs. Federal Rule 33 limits each party to 25, including discrete subparts, unless the court allows more, and answers are due within 30 days. Contention interrogatories, which ask for the basis of a party's legal positions, are often deferred until late in discovery. Some states provide standard form interrogatories.
