MT/s stands for Megatransfers per second, a data unit abbreviation.

The number of data transfers per second on a memory bus or interface, and the correct unit for DDR RAM speed. DDR5-6000 memory performs 6,000 MT/s while its clock runs at 3,000 MHz, because data moves on both clock edges.

Example: The kit is rated DDR5-6000 MT/s CL30 with an EXPO profile.

Usage notes

Retailers often label RAM speed in MHz ("3200 MHz" for DDR4-3200), but the figure is really MT/s and the true clock is half. For bandwidth, multiply MT/s by the bus width in bytes: a 64-bit DDR5-6000 channel moves about 48 GB/s. The JEDEC standard starts DDR5 at 4,800 MT/s.
