HSPT stands for High School Placement Test, a standardized test abbreviation.

Admission and placement test from Scholastic Testing Service used mainly by Catholic high schools for eighth graders. Its 298 multiple-choice questions cover verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics and language, completed in about two and a half hours.

Example: The diocese's Catholic high schools give the HSPT on the same Saturday in January.

Usage notes

Schools use the scores for admission, scholarships and course placement, such as honors math. Unlike the ISEE and SSAT, the HSPT is usually given at the high school itself, often only once a year. Optional sections in science, mechanical aptitude or religion are available to schools.
