General Motors brand selling pickup trucks, SUVs and vans, such as the Sierra, Yukon and Hummer EV. GMC models often share platforms with Chevrolet but are marketed as more premium.
Example: The GMC Sierra Denali is basically a luxury pickup.
Grew out of the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company and Reliance Motor Company, which GM bought in 1909 and combined as the General Motors Truck Company in 1911. The GMC Hummer EV revived the Hummer name in 2021. Pronounced as letters.

Example: The surgeon was suspended by the GMC for six months after the tribunal hearing.
Created by the Medical Act 1858, it is one of the oldest professional regulators. Hearings are conducted by the separate Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service. Since December 2024 it has also regulated physician associates and anaesthesia associates.
