FSIQ stands for Full-scale intelligence quotient, a psychology abbreviation.
Overall IQ score on Wechsler intelligence tests, derived from performance across the subtests that make up the index scores. Clinicians report the FSIQ alongside index scores, since a large gap between indexes can make the single number less meaningful.
Example: His FSIQ was 104, but a 25-point gap between verbal and processing-speed indexes was clinically notable.
Usage notes
Like other Wechsler composites, the FSIQ has a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 and is reported with a confidence interval. Diagnoses of intellectual disability consider FSIQ together with adaptive functioning, not the score alone.
