FEU stands for Forty-foot equivalent unit, a maritime abbreviation also used in business.
Measure of container capacity equal to one 40-foot container, or two TEU. Freight rates for ocean shipping are often quoted per FEU.
Example: Spot rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam jumped to $5,000 per FEU during the Red Sea crisis.
Usage notes
Forty-foot containers, including taller "high cube" versions, are the most common box in global trade. Rate indexes such as the Drewry World Container Index quote prices per 40-foot container. Most freight statistics still use TEU rather than FEU.
