EXIM stands for Export-Import Bank of the United States, a US federal agency abbreviation.

Official export credit agency of the United States, providing loans, loan guarantees and insurance that help foreign buyers purchase US goods and services when private financing is unavailable. It is led by a President and Chair and a bipartisan board.

Example: The turbine sale went ahead after EXIM approved a loan guarantee for the foreign utility.

Usage notes

Founded in 1934, it is often called Ex-Im Bank. Critics have labeled it "Boeing's bank" because aircraft sales have made up a large share of its business. Its charter lapsed briefly in 2015 and it lacked a board quorum until 2019, when Congress reauthorized it through 2026.
