EMC stands for Electromagnetic compatibility, an electronics & electrical abbreviation.
Ability of electronic equipment to operate correctly in its electromagnetic environment without causing or suffering unacceptable interference. EMC testing checks both a device's emissions and its immunity to interference, electrostatic discharge and power disturbances.
Example: The product failed EMC testing because radiated emissions exceeded the limit at 300 MHz.
Usage notes
In the United States, FCC Part 15 rules limit emissions from digital devices, and in the European Union the EMC Directive is part of CE marking. International standards come from CISPR and IEC. EMC problems found late in development are expensive to fix, so pre-compliance testing is common.
