E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo, a video game abbreviation.
Video game industry trade show held in Los Angeles from 1995 to 2019, plus an online edition in 2021, where publishers and console makers made major announcements. It was permanently canceled in 2023.
Example: Nintendo's E3 presentations were the highlight of every June.
Usage notes
Organized by the Entertainment Software Association. As publishers moved to their own streamed showcases, such as Nintendo Direct, E3 lost relevance. Summer Game Fest, hosted by Geoff Keighley, largely took its place in June. Pronounced "E-three".
