FOV stands for Field of view, a consumer electronics abbreviation also used in texting and entertainment.
Extent of the observable world visible at one time, measured in degrees. It describes how much a camera lens captures, how much of the user's vision a VR headset fills and how wide a game's camera view is.
Example: Raise the FOV slider to 100 degrees so you can see more at the edges of the screen.
Usage notes
Human vision covers roughly 200 degrees horizontally, while most consumer VR headsets offer around 100 to 110 degrees, producing a "binocular" frame effect. In photography, focal length determines FOV: wide-angle lenses capture more of the scene. Players often raise FOV in first-person games for awareness, though too wide a setting distorts the edges.
