CERO stands for Computer Entertainment Rating Organization, a video game abbreviation.

Japanese video game rating body, using letter grades A (all ages), B (12+), C (15+), D (17+) and Z (18+, legally restricted).

Example: The Japanese release is rated CERO Z, so it requires age verification at purchase.

Usage notes

Founded in 2002. CERO Z is the only grade enforced by law, and games with Z ratings sometimes get edited releases in Japan. Western games are occasionally censored to obtain a lower rating there.
