The angle a complex number makes with the positive real axis in the complex plane, measured in radians. For z = 1 + i, arg z = π/4.
Example: Since z = −1 lies on the negative real axis, arg z = π.
The principal value, written Arg z, is usually taken between −π and π. Together with the modulus, the argument gives the polar form z = r(cos θ + i sin θ). The related argmax and argmin return the input that achieves an extreme value, a different use of "arg".

Group of usually three Navy amphibious ships, typically an amphibious assault ship, an amphibious transport dock and a dock landing ship, carrying an embarked Marine expeditionary unit ready for crisis response.
Example: The ARG and its embarked MEU remained offshore during the evacuation.
Together they are often called the ARG/MEU. The amphibious assault ship, an LHA or LHD, resembles a small aircraft carrier and carries helicopters, Ospreys and F-35B jets. A larger formation, the expeditionary strike group, may include additional ships.
