1. Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport

Transportation & Travel · Airport Code Abbreviations

Hungary's main airport, located about 16 kilometers southeast of central Budapest. It was named in 2011 for composer Franz Liszt.

Example: Bus 100E runs from BUD straight to Deak Ferenc ter in about 40 minutes.

ICAO code LHBP. Formerly called Ferihegy. Hungary's national airline, Malev, collapsed in 2012, and low-cost carriers such as Wizz Air, headquartered in Budapest, have since dominated. In 2024 the Hungarian state, partnered with the French group Vinci, bought back a majority stake in the airport operator.

2. Beyond-use date

Medical · Pharmacy Abbreviations

Date or time after which a compounded or repackaged preparation must not be used, set by USP standards based on sterility risk, stability and storage. It differs from the manufacturer's expiration date on commercial products.

Example: IV syringe label: vancomycin 1 g/200 mL, BUD 11/06 1400, refrigerate.

USP chapters 795 and 797, substantially revised with new BUD limits effective November 2023, govern compounded preparations. A BUD is usually much shorter than an expiration date because compounded products are not tested for long-term stability. Pharmacies also assign BUDs to medicines repackaged into vials or blister cards.
