BiTE stands for Bispecific T-cell engager, a drug class abbreviation.
Engineered antibody that binds a T cell with one arm and a cancer cell with the other, directing the immune system to kill the tumor. Blinatumomab, which targets CD19 in acute lymphoblastic leukemia, was the first approved.
Example: Blinatumomab (BiTE) continuous infusion 28 days; monitor for CRS and neurotoxicity.
Usage notes
BiTE is technically Amgen's trademarked platform name, but it is widely used for the broader class of T-cell-engaging bispecific antibodies, which now includes teclistamab and elranatamab for myeloma. Cytokine release syndrome and neurological toxicity (ICANS) are the main risks, so step-up dosing and hospital monitoring are standard.
