AIOps stands for Artificial intelligence for IT operations, a cloud computing abbreviation.
The use of machine learning and analytics on IT monitoring data, such as logs, metrics and alerts, to detect anomalies, group related alerts, find root causes and automate responses.
Example: The AIOps tool grouped 500 alerts into a single incident caused by one failing switch.
Usage notes
Gartner coined the term in 2016, first as "algorithmic IT operations". Vendors include Dynatrace, Splunk and Datadog. Results depend heavily on data quality, and skeptics note that many products relabel older correlation features. Generative AI assistants for incident response are a newer extension.
