WSDL stands for Web Services Description Language, a programming abbreviation.
An XML format that describes a SOAP web service's operations, message formats, data types and endpoint addresses, allowing tools to generate client code automatically.
Example: Import the WSDL into Visual Studio to generate the client proxy for the tax service.
Usage notes
WSDL 1.1 was published as a W3C Note in 2001, and WSDL 2.0 became a Recommendation in 2007, though 1.1 stayed more widely used. Pronounced "wiz-dull". REST APIs use OpenAPI documents for a similar purpose.
