XSLT stands for Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations, a programming abbreviation.
A language for transforming XML documents into other XML, HTML or plain text, using template rules that match parts of the input. Publishing systems and enterprise integrations use it to convert data between formats.
Example: An XSLT stylesheet turns the supplier's XML catalog into our product import format.
Usage notes
XSLT 1.0 became a W3C Recommendation in 1999, and versions 2.0 (2007) and 3.0 (2017) added major features. It selects nodes with XPath expressions. Saxon is the best-known processor supporting the newer versions.
