Consortium based at the University of Wisconsin–Madison that develops English language development standards and the ACCESS for ELLs proficiency test used by more than 40 US states, territories and federal agencies. It also serves many international schools.

Usage notes
The name came from the three states in the original 2003 federal grant; Arkansas soon left, and the expansion "World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment" was later dropped. Today WIDA is simply the organization's name. Its proficiency levels run from 1 (Entering) to 6 (Reaching).
