TASC stands for Test Assessing Secondary Completion, a standardized test abbreviation.
High school equivalency exam created by CTB/McGraw-Hill, later owned by Data Recognition Corporation, and used by New York, Indiana and several other states from 2014 until it was discontinued at the end of 2021. It covered reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.
Example: Her TASC transcript from 2017 still counts as proof of high school equivalency.
Usage notes
Credentials earned through TASC remain valid in the issuing state. New York replaced it with the GED in 2022. Former TASC states now offer the GED, the HiSET or both, and older transcripts are obtained through the state education department.
