TAMP stands for Transitional Assistance Management Program, a veteran abbreviation.
Program that provides 180 days of continued TRICARE coverage to certain service members and families after they leave active duty, such as those separating involuntarily or after a deployment.
Example: TAMP covered us for six months while I looked for a job with benefits.
Usage notes
Reservists coming off long active-duty periods often qualify. Members can buy longer temporary coverage through the Continued Health Care Benefit Program. Eligibility depends on the type of separation. Retirees do not need TAMP because they keep TRICARE eligibility.
