SUSY stands for Supersymmetry, a physics abbreviation.

Proposed symmetry in which every known particle has a heavier partner with spin differing by one half, so that matter particles pair with force-carrying "sparticles." SUSY could stabilize the Higgs mass and supply dark matter candidates, but the Large Hadron Collider has found no superpartners so far.

Example: LHC searches have pushed the possible masses of SUSY partners above about 1-2 TeV in many models.

Usage notes

Pronounced "soozy." Supersymmetry is built into most versions of string theory. Superpartners have names like selectron, squark and photino. The lack of evidence at the LHC has led many physicists to consider less conventional ideas.
