The M249 entered US service in the 1980s. The Marine Corps replaced most of its SAWs with the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle in the 2010s, and the Army selected a replacement under its Next Generation Squad Weapon program in 2022. Pronounced "saw."

ICAO code LTFJ. Named for Sabiha Gökçen, adopted daughter of Atatürk and Turkey's first female military pilot. The airport opened in 2001 and has grown rapidly with low-cost travel. Metro extensions have improved access from the city.
3. Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam (God's blessings and peace be upon him)
Religion · Religious Term Abbreviations
Arabic honorific written after the name of the Prophet Muhammad, abbreviated SAW or SAWS, and sometimes as the single Arabic ligature ﷺ. It is reserved for Muhammad, while other prophets receive the shorter "alayhi as-salam".
Example: The khutbah opened with praise of God and blessings on the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Many scholars encourage writing the full phrase or the Arabic ligature rather than an abbreviation. Variant English forms include S.A.W., SAAS and SAWW in Shia usage. The Quran (33:56) calls on believers to send blessings upon the Prophet.
